Pick the document, drag and zoom your photo inside the frame, and line up the head with the guide: the top of the head on the upper line and the chin between the two lower lines. The frame is locked to the right proportions, so the crop is always the correct shape. You get a single photo at exactly the printed size at 300 dpi (for example 600 × 600 px for 2 × 2 in, 413 × 531 px for 35 × 45 mm) and a 4 × 6 in or 10 × 15 cm sheet with as many copies as fit and thin grey cut lines, ready for a photo kiosk or a home printer.

Head-size ranges come from the official pages linked beside the guide: 1 to 1 3/8 in for US passports and visas, 29 to 34 mm for UK passports, 32 to 36 mm for Schengen visas, 31 to 36 mm for Canadian passports. For India and for custom sizes, where no official range is cited here, the guide uses the common 70 to 80% of photo height and says so.

This tool does not change backgrounds, remove shadows or retouch faces. Official rules require a plain light background, even lighting and a neutral expression, so take the photo against a plain wall in daylight facing a window. For online applications that want a digital file with pixel and KB limits rather than a print, use the image resizer presets and the guides linked in the tool.

How to use it

  1. Take a photo against a plain light wall with even light, face straight on, neutral expression.
  2. Choose the photo and the document size (or enter a custom size in mm).
  3. Drag the photo and use the zoom slider until the head fits the guide lines; arrow keys and + / - work too.
  4. Choose the print sheet size and click Create photo and print sheet.
  5. Print the sheet at 100% (actual size) on photo paper and cut along the grey lines.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is read and processed by your browser on your device; nothing is sent to a server. You can load the page, switch off Wi-Fi and it still works.

Does it make the background white?

No. Background replacement is not done here, and many offices reject edited backgrounds anyway. Start from a photo taken against a plain light background.

How many photos fit on a 4 × 6 in sheet?

Six 2 × 2 in photos, or eight 35 × 45 mm photos with a 2 mm cutting gap. The tool picks the layout that fits the most.

Why print at 100%?

The sheet is made at exactly 300 pixels per inch with the density stored in the file. "Fit to page" or borderless scaling would change the photo size.

Is the head-size guide a guarantee of acceptance?

No. It helps with the size and position rules; acceptance also depends on lighting, expression, glasses and the photo's age. Check the official page linked for your document.

Can I use it for a visa application uploaded online?

Online forms usually ask for a digital file with pixel dimensions and a KB limit. Use the image resizer preset for that document instead, linked from the tool.
