Saudi Arabia end-of-service award calculator
End-of-service award under Saudi Labor Law Articles 84 and 85, including the resignation reductions.
Your end-of-service award
Article 84 of the Saudi Labor Law grants a worker whose employment ends an award of half a month of wage for each of the first five years and a full month of wage for each following year, calculated on the last wage and pro rata for fractions of a year. Enter the last monthly wage, completed years and extra months, and how the employment ended.
Article 85 reduces the award when the worker resigns: nothing before two years of service, one-third of the award from two to under five years, two-thirds from five to under ten years, and the full award at ten years or more. Termination by the employer and the natural end of a fixed-term contract pay the full award. The result table names the rule that was applied so you can check it against your case.
The wage base matters. Article 2 defines the actual wage as the basic wage plus all other increments, and the common HR reading is basic salary plus housing allowance and other regular allowances. Some employers compute on basic salary only. Confirm with your HR department which components are included, then enter that figure.
How to use it
- Enter your last monthly wage (see the note on what to include).
- Enter completed years and any additional months of service.
- Choose how the employment ended: employer termination, end of a fixed-term contract, or resignation.
- Read the payable amount and the rule applied; the full pre-reduction award is shown for comparison.
Frequently asked questions
I resigned after 3 years. What do I get?
One-third of the full award. For a wage of 8,000 and three years, the full award is 3 × 4,000 = 12,000, so the payable amount is 4,000. At five years the fraction rises to two-thirds, and at ten years you receive everything.
Which wage is used: basic or total?
The law says the last wage. Article 2 defines the actual wage as basic wage plus all increments, which most employers read as basic plus housing and other regular allowances. Because practice varies, this calculator uses whatever figure you enter and tells you to confirm the components with HR.
Are there cases where a resigning worker gets the full award?
Yes. Article 87 preserves the full award when a worker leaves due to force majeure, and for a woman who resigns within six months of marriage or three months of childbirth. Those cases are not modelled here; choose "Terminated by the employer" to see the full figure.
What if I was dismissed under Article 80?
Termination for the reasons listed in Article 80 (serious misconduct, absence, and so on) can remove the entitlement entirely. That is a legal determination, not a calculation, so it is not an option in this tool.
How are months counted?
Pro rata: each month is one-twelfth of a year. Seven years and six months counts as 7.5 years: five years at half a month plus 2.5 years at a full month.
